Mid-America Welcomes Dr. Anthony W. Allen as Vice President of Institutional Advancement
Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and Mid-America College are pleased to announce that Dr. Anthony W. Allen has joined the institution as Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
Dr. Allen brings more than three decades of experience in Christian higher education, institutional advancement, administration, ministry, and donor stewardship to his new role. His career has included senior leadership positions at several Southern Baptist institutions, including Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Hannibal-LaGrange University. Most recently, he served as Vice President for External Relations at Arizona Christian University, following three years as the university’s Vice President for Advancement.
Prior to his time at Arizona Christian University, Dr. Allen spent a decade as President of Hannibal-LaGrange University (2012–2022). During his presidency, he completed comprehensive strategic long-range master plans, expanded graduate and online degree offerings, stabilized the institution’s finances, and launched multiple capital campaigns.
He holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University, a Th.M. in Ethics and an M.Div. with Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and an A.B. in History/Religion from Duke University, where he was a four-year scholarship football letterman and Pre-Season All-ACC selection.
An ordained minister, Dr. Allen has served in numerous pastoral and interim pastor roles throughout his career and has led mission and leadership training efforts both nationally and internationally, including work in Botswana, Mexico, and Eastern Europe. He is the author of several books and articles on Christian higher education.
As Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Allen will provide leadership for Mid-America’s advancement efforts and help strengthen relationships with alumni, churches, friends, donors, and ministry partners as the Seminary and College continue their mission of equipping biblical leaders for faithful service to Christ.

Dr. Allen and his wife, Stacy, have five children.
