Biblical Counseling Program

“Don’t defer and refer when people have counseling needs. You can be competent to counsel!” —Dr. Jay E. Adams

Biblical counseling is one of the fastest growing areas of ministry in churches and Christian organizations across the nation. The needs are immense and rapidly growing in today’s world. Pastors and staff are striving to meet the ever-increasing demands for counseling in their church and community. Other Christian ministries are also seeking well equipped, biblically trained counselors to provide true hope and genuine answers from the Word of God.

Mid-America, a SACSCOC-accredited institution, has partnered with Dr. Jay E. AdamsInstitute for Nouthetic Studies (INS) INS founder and the father of the modern biblical counseling movement, to build a counseling curriculum that is faithful to the Scriptures, academically rigorous, and intensely practical. Beginning with his landmark book Competent to Counsel in 1970, Dr. Adams has been demonstrating the importance of counseling with the conviction that the Scripture is God’s sufficient resource for dealing with life’s problems.

By combining two institutions with a strong history of teaching the sufficiency of Scripture, we have created one of the nation’s most comprehensive and accessible educational programs for training men and women to counsel biblically. Our biblical counseling program offers students fully accredited training in biblical counseling at every level:

·BA | Biblical Counseling

·MA | Biblical Counseling

·MDIV | Biblical Counseling

·DMIN | Biblical Counseling

·PhD | Biblical Counseling

In addition, students can take INS courses which are available online at nouthetic.org. These courses offer students two additional options:

· Earn an INS Certificate in Nouthetic Counseling from Mid-America

· Convert your INS coursework into credit towards a Mid-America biblical counseling degree.
