Introducing New Athletics Coordinator
Mid-America is adding an Athletic Coordinator to our all-star staff lineup! Meet Tim Tipton. As you can read in his bio below, he’s not new to Mid-America. But he’s helping Mid-America kick off a whole new dimension to Student Life, including competitive sports. We’ll begin with intramural sports and possibly community recreation leagues, with the eventual goal of competing against other schools. You got to walk before you run—or shoot or kick or swing or whatever sport you like. So welcome Coach Tim to Mid-America! And let’s play ball!
Meet Tim Tipton

Tim Tipton is a native of Whitehall, New York, a small town in Upstate NY. Having been a former online Mid-America student, he and his family moved to Memphis in August 2024 in order to attend on-campus classes. Tim is a fourth-year Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies student and intends to join the Accelerated MDIV program in Pastoral Ministry in Fall 2026. He and his wife, Amanda, have been married for 12 years and have three children: Michael (10), Elizabeth (9), and Johanna (4). Tim is a former firefighter and has been a member of the Mid-America security team since moving to Memphis. Outside his studies, Tim is an avid pickleball player, playing multiple times a week and having been sponsored by Omega Pickleball in 2024–2025. He was a competitive golfer throughout high school and has recently gotten into the world of running. He is currently training to run the Mamba 100-mile race in Memphis this November. As Athletic Coordinator, Tim will be overseeing the development of new intramural leagues, fitness opportunities, and student tournaments, seeking to foster community and healthy competition on campus.
