Narrative

There is not a prohibition placed upon trustees of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS), written or otherwise, to believe in one political party over another. Since the seminary is primarily a private religious institution, trustees must meet the basic Christian requirement of salvation as defined in Section 1.04 [1] and must subscribe to the broad beliefs of the seminary as described in the Articles of Religious Belief [2]. Apart from these two requirements, they may choose to practice their faith in a manner which suits them best. Trustees are required to protect the best interests of the seminary corporately and personally as demonstrated on pages 4 and 5 of the 2014-15 MABTS Trustee Handbook [3]. Each year during the spring meeting, these responsibilities are discussed and agreed upon by all board members through a review of the trustee handbook which the trustees agree to in writing [4]. The Board of Trustees meets bi-annually unless needed otherwise and conducts business on behalf of the seminary as demonstrated by Trustee Minutes of the Board [5].

The MABTS Board of Trustees members also serve as the governing board for Mid-America Student Housing, Inc. with the exception of one member [6].
