According to the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary Charter and By-laws (Article X, Section 10.01), “the President of the seminary shall be elected by the Board of Trustees and shall serve and the will and good pleasure of the board” [1], and “shall have power and authority to appoint an acting president should a vacancy occur” [2]. It is noted in the 2014-15 MABTS Trustee Handbook that the trustees also “support and evaluate the performance of the President” [3]. Typically, the trustee board meets in executive session at the conclusion of the spring trustee meeting to give formal evaluation of the President [4] and to discuss his possible salary increase.
