Narrative

Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS) was incorporated in the state of Tennessee on June 10, 1975 [1], and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) is the government agency that authorizes the seminary to grant degrees [2]. MABTS is listed in the THEC directory under “Other Independent Professional Schools and Special Purpose Institutions” [3] and in the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Membership List on page 35 [4].

MABTS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to grant associate, bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. Verification of MABTS’s accreditation by SACSCOC to award degrees can be found on the SACSCOC Website’s 2014 Membership Directory [5]. SACSCOC accreditation information is published on the MABTS website on the “Why Mid-America” pull down menu which links to the page entitled, “Accreditation” [6], on page 8 of the 2014-15 Catalog [7], on page 1 of the 2014-15 Student Supplement [8], and in other relevant seminary-related publications.

The Northeast Campus of MABTS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the New York State Office of Higher Education to grant associate and master degrees. Verification of the Northeast Campus’ accreditation by the New York State Office of Higher Education can be found on the New York State Education’s website [9] and from a memo from the State of New York Board of Regents [10].
