Dr. Kenneth R. Lewis

Director of Information Services, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, New Testament, and Church History



Dr. Lewis grew up in Sallis, Mississippi, and confessed Jesus at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in August 1980.  After earning a B.S. Degree in Computer Science at Mississippi State University, he began a career in software development and project management before pursuing his call to vocational ministry.  Dr. Lewis began his ministry training by attending Huntsville Bible College while fulfilling the demands of his software profession.  He received the Bachelor of Theology degree in May 2005.  In 2008, Dr. Lewis and family relocated to the Cordova area where he enrolled in Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries in May 2011.  He subsequently enrolled in the Ph.D. program, which he completed in December 2014.  


Dr. Lewis has served churches in various capacities such as Bible teacher, Christian Education director, deacon, associate minister, itinerant preacher, church planter, and interim pastor.  He also serves as a Workplace Chaplain for Marketplace Chaplains, USA.  He has participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, and Ivory Coast (West Africa) to spread the Gospel and to train pastors and church leaders.


He currently serves as Director of Information Services and Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, Church History, and New Testament at MABTS.  He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) and the Evangelical Homiletics Society (EHS).


Dr. Lewis and his wife, Benita, have been married since July 2000.  They have three children: Kendrell, Kennedy, and Lauren. 


His passion is to know Christ through learning and living, and to make Christ known through proclamation and practice.
