Dr. Lee Brand Jr. to Become the New Dean of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
MEMPHIS, TN–Mid-America will install its new vice president and dean of the seminary Dr. Lee Brand Jr. during the official kickoff of its 47th Founders’ Days.
Mid-America will hold a reception to welcome Dr. Brand at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the school. A worship service featuring a full choir and orchestra will follow in the chapel at 7 p.m. with a message from Dr. Brand and his official installation from Mid-America President Dr. Michael Spradlin. Both events are open to the public.
“Mid-America is pleased to install two-time graduate Dr. Lee Brand Jr. as a part of our faculty and staff,” said Spradlin. “We welcome him as an official part of Mid-America during Founders’ Days as an example of what we want our students to become – a pillar in pastoral leadership, higher education and community involvement.”
The event will be a part of Founders’ Days, Mid-America’s official start to the school year that commemorates its founding more than 40 years ago.
Dr. Brand has served as senior pastor of Beth-el Missionary Baptist Church, Starkville, MS, since 2002. He has also served as an adjunct professor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s Starkville, MS, extension since 2013. He was also an adjunct professor at East Mississippi Community College and at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary’s Oxford Extension, Oxford, MS.
He has also served as a Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District Board of Trustees member since 2010, as a Starkville Police Department chaplain since 2015, and as a Project Impact Mississippi (formerly Delta Upsilon Sigma Education Foundation) Board of Trustees member since 2016.
He is a Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary alumnus who received his Doctor of Philosophy in 2013 and his Master of Divinity in 2008. He received a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University in 2001.
The seminary, which started with four professors and 28 students in Olivet Baptist Church, Little Rock, AR, now has thousands of graduates serving on six continents. Its students have personally witnessed more than 1.7 million people with more than 165,000 professions of faith since its beginning.
Mid-America’s award-winning campus is located on 35 acres of land in a Memphis, TN, suburb with a branch campus in Albany, NY. Founded in 1972, Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary provides theological training for effective service in church-related and mis¬sions vocations.
