Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
Development Council
Article I - NAME
The name of this organization shall be the DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Cordova, TN.
Article II - OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES
1. To serve as an advisory body in planning, promoting and supporting Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in its mission to provide theological training.
2. To interpret the program of the seminary and its ministry through every available means.
3. To create good will for the seminary and to channel this good will into active support.
4. To advise on procedures and to help recruit "God-called" students for the seminary.
5. To provide methods, plans and to seek finances for the operation of the seminary.
6. To seek and obtain gifts to be used by Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in conformity with the plans and policies of the Board of Trustees.
7. To seek and obtain gifts and bequests for Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
Article III - MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Development Council shall be open to all born-again believers who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church and are NOT ordained staff ministers of that church.
Members must be in agreement with the aims and goals of the Seminary, be willing to support these goals, and attempt to enlist others in support.
New members shall be elected by the Trustees of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
Prospective new members may be nominated by members of the Development Council and the seminary administration. Recommendations to the Trustees shall be made through the President of the Seminary.
Ex-officio members of the Development Council shall be the Trustees of the Seminary, the President of the Seminary, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and other staff members as designated by the President.
Article IV - OFFICERS
The officers of the Development Council shall be:

Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the members present at the annual meeting. Ex-officio members may NOT serve as officers of the Development Council.
Article V - MEETINGS
1. The Development Council shall meet during the academic year as scheduled by the Development Council officers and the Seminary administration. The fall meeting will be considered the Annual Meeting and will be held concurrently with the fall meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Annual Founders’ Days event. Officers will be elected during the fall meeting.
2. Notices of the schedule of meetings shall be mailed to each member.
3. The following is a suggested order of business for each meeting which requires a business session.
